Early Life and Background
Israel Mbonyi was born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and moved with his family to Rwanda at a young age, where he was raised. He grew up in a Christian home and developed a love for music early on. As a child, he learned to play instruments and started composing songs for his church choir.
Fluent in languages like Kinyarwanda, Lingala, Swahili, French, and English, he uses his multilingual ability to reach diverse audiences across East Africa.
Music Career
Israel Mbonyi’s musical journey officially began with the release of his debut album Number One in 2014. This album included powerful worship songs that helped him gain recognition in Rwanda.
