Eid al-Adha, also called the “Festival of Sacrifice,” is one of the most important holidays in Islam. It commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God.
Eid al-Adha is the second of the two main festivals in Islam, alongside Eid al-Fitr. It falls on the 10th of Dhu'l-Hijja, the twelfth and final month of the Islamic calendar. Celebrations and observances are generally carried forward to the three following days, known as the Tashreeq days. Muslims around the world celebrate with prayers, charity, family gatherings, and the sharing of meals.
