Nyarugusu AY Choir – Sheria | Gospel Audio

“Sheria” is a Swahili word that means “law.”

In a Gospel (Christian) context, Sheria usually refers to:
1. The Law of God (Old Testament Law)
It can point to the commandments given by God, especially through Moses (like the Ten Commandments). These laws show people what is right and wrong.

2. Human Inability to Fully Keep the Law
The Gospel teaches that no one can perfectly obey God’s law. The law reveals sin but cannot save us by itself.

3. Grace Through Jesus Christ
In the Gospel message:
  • The law (sheria) shows our need for salvation
  • Jesus Christ fulfills the law and brings grace
  • Salvation comes not by keeping the law, but by faith in Jesus
Simple Gospel Meaning
“Sheria” in Gospel context = God’s law that shows us our sin and leads us to depend on Jesus for salvation.

Therefore the law guides us, but grace through Jesus saves us.
